Welcome to our FAQ page. We realized that every so often people ask us the same questions, so we’ve compiled them for you. A lot of these questions are asked in person and over the internet, so hopefully you can find your answer here. If not, feel free to call us.

Q1. Where are you located? How do we get there? Which cities are you primarily based out of?

A: Our income tax office is located in Mississauga, Ontario at 1550 Meyerside Drive, Unit 7. This is a 5 minute drive from both Highway 401 and 410. We primarily serve customers who live in and around the GTA, such as Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, and Etobicoke. However, we do business taxes from all over the province and even a few overseas Canadian corporations.

Q2. Are tax return preparation fees tax deductible?

A: Sometimes, tax return preparation is a tax-deductible expense if you are self-employed.

Q3. What can you claim as an expense?

A: As a rule of thumb, you can claim any reasonable expenses incurred to earn income. You can only do this if you are in business or are self-employed. We will ensure that all possible expenses are claimed and no stones are left unturned getting you the best possible tax results, and get the best possible tax refund.

Q4. What is E-file?

A: E-filing is an electronic method of sending your tax return to the CRA. Like the “E” in “E-mail”, “E-Filing” literally means “Electronic Filing”.

Q5. Do you E-file?

A: Yes. We E-file whenever possible. E-filing is faster than normal filing, and also gets our customers their refunds in a shorter span of time. This way our customers get their refunds within two weeks.

Q6. What is the cost of tax return preparation in Canada?

A: The cost of Canadian tax returns with Tax & Accounting Experts is very reasonable and the service provided is phenomenal. Since everyone needs us to do something different, we cannot give you an estimate online. Call us and we will give you a price tailored towards you. We know you will be happy with the quote you receive.

Q7. Why should I not use a free tax preparation software instead of coming to you?

A: Business taxes are quite convoluted. We suggest not going the free route because we believe in the expression “you get what you pay for.” There are a lot of things that the small business will miss out on while using a free tax preparation software. These kinds of things usually require the attention of a tax preparer or accountant, and going the free route might harm your business and make you lose money in the long run.

Q8. Are income tax preparation fees tax deductible?

A: Yes, income tax return preparation is tax deductible, but only if you are self-employed.

Q9. Do you audit financial statements?

A: We prepare financial statements for many situations. This can range from statements prepared for shareholders, tax purposes, and even loans with notice to readers. In the case where an audit situation may arise, we will assist and represent you with your best interests at heart.

Q10. What is the average cost of income tax preparation at Tax and Accounting Experts Inc.?

A: We wish we could give you a solid number online. The cost of tax preparation varies. This happens because of how much time is needed to ensure we get the best results for you and your company. However, we guarantee that the cost of a Canadian tax return at Tax and Accounting Experts is not only reasonable, but our services are phenomenal.

Q11. What documents do I need for my taxes if I buy a house in Canada?

A: Most situations are very simple and only a property tax statement is needed. Some situations are more complex, for example, when you are renting out said house. We can advise you about your specific situation and find out what’s right for you.

Q12. Will you be able to setup “paying taxes monthly for self-employers in Canada”?

A: Small business tax is our expertise, we can setup monthly, quarterly, or even biannual installments so you are not looking for a large tax payment at the end of the year. By paying in installments you will not be paying any interests on unpaid taxes, increasing your tax savings.
